McLaren 650S GT3 – the MC 12C GT3 Replacement

The McLaren MC 12C GT3`s replacement – McLaren 650S GT3, looks really attractive and provocative. The British sports cars maker is planning to build 15 units each priced at $560 000 (£330,000). The racer will take part in GT3 circuits in 2015. It will compete in motorsports events together with first-class racers such as Ferrari GT racing cars, Porsche 911 GT3, etc.

The new GT racer is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a six-speed sequential transmission. The powertrain capacity is limited to 493 hp due to FIA regulations. The same engine is capable of 640 horsepower.

Compared to current CT racer, the new edition features significant safety improvements and better handling. The state-of-the-art aerodynamic kit changes not only the car`s appearance but its performance.
Compared to the MC 12C GT3 car,  the 650S GT3 features an increased track width, all-new suspension geometry and stronger components.

The latest generation GT3 car is based on McLaren 650S. It uses carbon fibre monocell chassis combined with aluminum sub frames. The prominent front splitter and air intakes with carbon wraps emphasize the exterior. The rear view of the car is dominated by fixed carbon wing and splitter. The McLaren 650S GT3 sits on all-new forged aluminium wheels sizing 12.5″ x 18″ at front and 13″ x 18″at the rear. The cabin of the road-going vehicle offers perfect protection thanks to the FIA approved rollcage. The seat is fixed to the chassis. Both the GT3 steering wheel and pedal box are adjustable.

The 2014 McLaren 650S GT3 debuted at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It will be the successor of the highly successful 12C GT3 which have won world championships three times and has got victories in 51 races.
