Jaguar has developed an Instinctive All Wheel Drive system for clients who have to deal with snowy and icy roads. The innovative technology improves the performance abilities of Jag sedans. The auto manufacturer fitted its models XF and XJ models with a Jaguar AWD system.
The system helps brand`s vehicles to compete against the Mercedes-Benz 4Matic, BMW xDrive and Audi Quattro. The automaker expects 80 percent of XF sales in North America to be AWD variations.
The Instinctive All Wheel Drive system works as full rear-wheel drive in good weather and can split engine power 50:50 between front and rear axles using a center transfer case on snow- and ice-covered roads.
The Jaguar AWD system will be fitted to XJ, XF, regular and long-wheelbase XJL models and future Jaguar model.
Jaguar made extensive changes to XJ and XF architectures to fit the system. The changes include the suspension, front floorboard and even some of the powertrain elements.
The AWD can be used on models powered by 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine.
